TekFocus is a full-service technology training provider with a core business delivering Microsoft-certified technical training and product skills enhancements to customers worldwide.
Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, TekFocus has grown to become the learning partner-of-choice for many IT infrastructure professionals and software developers due in large part to exceptional instruction on a full offering of authorized technical training programs. Microsoft often requests TekFocus to provide training nationally and internationally on Microsoft products and solutions because of the knowledge, ability, skill, and reputation of Tekfocus staff instructors on specific technologies. TekFocus offers many different curriculum and certifications needed to successfully implement and support the latest technologies, or develop and deploy new IT strategies.
TekFocus can trace its training roots back to the foundation of Absolute Training in Dallas, Texas in 1992. The company provided training services on a wide range of technical and end user training products to students across North Texas. In the mid 1990’s, Absolute Training began focusing more on Microsoft products and solutions, offering classes on Server and Office products.
In 1998 Absolute training was acquired by Aris Corporation. Aris was a nationwide training organization that that grew through acquisition. Targeting Fortune 1000 companies with multiple locations, the Aris model was to acquire existing training facilities in key markets to provide customers with a national solution. In 2000 Aris ceased operations and the Dallas, Texas location was purchased by an outside party and renamed TekFokus.
In 2001 Miguel Wood was hired by TekFokus as their lead development instructor. Miguel’s background in as a consultant with Sapient Corporation had exposed him to a wide range of clients and technology. Armed with a passion for technology, a Electrical Engineering BS and a Computer Science BS in addition to his consulting experience, Miguel quickly became a respected part of the local technology community. Miguel acquired TekFokus in 2002 and became the company Chairman and CEO.
TekFocus became a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner as a Learning Solutions Provider in 2003. The decision to narrowing the training offering to focus on Microsoft products was due in large part to the tremendous growth and wide acceptance in the public and private sectors of the Microsoft products. As a result, in 2004 TekFokus began a series of multiple record months of growth that did not level off until mid 2008. During that period, TekFocus grew by nearly 400% from revenue of approximately $600,000 in 2004 to nearly $2.4 million in 2007.
TekFocus, Inc. was rebranded as TekFocus in 2007. By and large, the previous company name was difficult for students and clients alike to remember and when the domain www.tekfocus.com became available, it was decided that would be the ideal time to rebrand the company. This rebranding effort was spearheaded by the newest addition to the TekFocus organization, Kory Kellogg. Kory came to TekFocus in 2007 as the Director of Sales and Marketing. His responsibility were to manage the direct sales effort, manage the marketing function –which included rebranding the company, and to build a partner network within Microsoft’s South Central District. Kory’s responsibilities evolved to include all operations of TekFocus and in 2009 was promoted to Vice President of Operations.
